Position Summary 

Resource Recovery Center of Orange County is seeking an experienced and service-oriented IT Specialist to provide on-site technical support and assist with the day-to-day operation of the organization's technology environment. 

The IT Specialist will support computers, Microsoft 365, network connectivity, the Electronic Health Record (EHR), security camera systems, printers, phones, user accounts, and other technology used throughout the organization. 

This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, professionalism, and the ability to appropriately handle confidential information and electronic protected health information (ePHI). 

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Provide hands-on technical support to clinical, administrative, and management staff. 

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, laptops, printers, phones, software, and other technology. 

  • Support Microsoft 365, email, user accounts, permissions, passwords, and multifactor authentication. 

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for the organization's Electronic Health Record (EHR), including user access, permissions, troubleshooting, and coordination with the EHR vendor. 

  • Assist with employee IT onboarding and offboarding, including account creation/removal, workstation setup, EHR access, and equipment assignment. 

  • Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity, including Wi-Fi, switches, access points, and related equipment. 

  • Maintain and troubleshoot the organization's security camera and video surveillance systems, including connectivity, recording, storage, and authorized user access. 

  • Assist with endpoint protection, security updates, patching, backups, and other established cybersecurity practices. 

  • Identify and appropriately escalate advanced network, cybersecurity, EHR, or infrastructure issues. 

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of computers, network equipment, security cameras, phones, and other technology assets. 

  • Coordinate with EHR, internet, telephone, security, software, hardware, and other technology vendors. 

  • Maintain appropriate IT documentation and technical procedures. 

  • Protect confidential organizational information and ePHI and follow applicable company policies regarding HIPAA, privacy, and information security. 

  • Participate in technology installations, upgrades, and improvement projects. 

  • Perform other technology-related duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications 

Candidates must meet one of the following: 

  • Associate degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field and at least three (3) years of relevant professional IT experience; OR 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field and at least two (2) years of relevant professional IT experience. 

Required Skills 

  • Strong knowledge of Windows computers and Microsoft 365. 

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, printers, and end-user technology. 

  • Working knowledge of wired and wireless networking, TCP/IP, switches, access points, firewalls, and VPNs. 

  • Experience with user accounts, permissions, access controls, and multifactor authentication. 

  • Understanding of basic cybersecurity and information-security practices. 

  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and customer-service skills. 

  • Ability to independently resolve routine IT issues and appropriately escalate advanced problems. 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information. 

  • Ability to work reliably on-site Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting an Electronic Health Record (EHR) or healthcare information system. 

  • Healthcare or behavioral-health IT experience. 

  • Familiarity with HIPAA and protection of electronic protected health information. 

  • Microsoft 365 administration and Active Directory/Entra ID experience. 

  • Experience with IP security cameras or video management systems. 

  • Experience with network infrastructure, endpoint security, backups, or VoIP systems. 

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or comparable IT certification. 

Work Environment 

This is an on-site, hands-on IT position requiring regular movement throughout the facility. The employee may be responsible for running Ethernet cable; crimping, terminating, and testing network cables; and installing, relocating, troubleshooting, or replacing computers, monitors, printers, networking equipment, security cameras, and other technology. 

The position may require accessing equipment located under desks, above work areas, in equipment rooms, network closets, and other designated technology areas.
